WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFRV) – With storms in the area looming, authorities in central Wisconsin worked quickly on Friday night to find a woman who had been lost for hours in the woods.

Around 8 p.m. on March 14, the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department received a missing person complaint. The caller stated that around 7 p.m., a 59-year-old woman walked away from her home without her phone.

The woman reportedly has “medical conditions that affect her ability to care for herself.”

The woman was last seen by a neighbor going into a nearby wooded area. After officers canvassed the location and conducted an extensive ground search to no success, the Grand Rapids FD Drone Team and Wings of Hope Search and Rescue were called in to help with the search.

Shortly after, a drone team spotted the woman crawling in the woods. Within a minute of being spotted through the drone, officers were able to get to her and get her to safety. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers say the woman was in the wooded area for roughly three hours and was found within an hour of impending storms.

No additional information was provided.
