Dumpster Drama: Waste Removal Company Dumps Load on Customer’s Lawn Over Unpaid Bill Dispute

A trash removal service in California was captured on video unloading the contents of a dumpster onto a customer’s front lawn over a payment dispute. The incident involved a Bay Area business, Express Rental Dumpster, whose owner claimed the renters of a property in San Pablo failed to settle their bill.

According to KTVU, the tenants had rented a dumpster for clearing out debris, but the credit card they provided was problematic. Martin Perez, the owner, recounted the situation, saying, “The card was declined. They kept assuring us, ‘I’ll pay later,’ but it never happened. They promised to add funds to the card for charging, but on Monday, when we tried again, the response was, ‘Oh, I forgot.'”

Footage from a Ring doorbell camera revealed a truck driver conversing with someone out of view before opening the dump truck’s rear door, letting some trash spill onto the yard. The driver then reversed the truck into the property and unloaded the entire dumpster’s contents onto the lawn.

The action, reportedly captured by Julio via Storyful, highlights the ongoing conflict between the trash removal company and the tenants over the outstanding bill.

At one point, a man appears to emerge from the home and yell profanities in Spanish in the direction of the dump truck.

Perez said he already lost money on the dumpster delivery and pickup and would have to pay hundreds more in dumping fees if he took the trash to the dump, KTVU reported.

Police later responded to the scene and required the driver to remove debris from the edge of the sidewalk onto the property, the station added.

A neighbor told KTVU that the homeowner claimed to have paid for the dumpster.

“She says she paid $700 for it, and then, all of a sudden, I see him back up and dump it all on the ground. I don’t really know what that was about,” the neighbor said.

The pile of trash reportedly was cleaned up and covered by a neighbor after being picked through by scavengers.
