Elderly Man Attacked in Unprovoked Upper East Side Assault: NYC Police Seek Suspect

In a shocking outburst of violence on the Upper East Side last week, an elderly man was brutally attacked by an unknown assailant, police reported.

The unsettling incident occurred in broad daylight around 5:20 p.m. on Friday. The 75-year-old victim was standing in front of a grocery store on York Avenue near East 83rd Street when he was approached by a stranger. An argument ensued between the two, according to police accounts.

During the confrontation, the attacker allegedly shoved the senior citizen to the ground, as detailed by the NYPD.

Following this, the aggressor launched into a vicious assault, repeatedly punching and kicking the elderly man, before fleeing south on York Avenue on foot.

Despite the violence of the attack, the victim sustained only minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.

It was not immediately clear what the fight was over.

Video shows the suspect walking in the store wearing a gray hat, a pair of shades, a blue jacket and black pants.
