Elon Musk announces formation of 'America Party'

Tech billionaire Elon Musk said Saturday he has officially formed the “America Party,” a third political faction to rival Democrats and Republicans.

“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it. When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk wrote in a post on the social platform X, which he owns, after putting out a poll questioning X users if they wanted a third political party.

“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” he added.

For weeks, Musk has taunted President Trump, threatening to form a third party ahead of midterm elections after the passage of the GOP spending package.

Musk railed against the legislation due to clauses that pulled electric vehicle credits for consumers, warranting a blow to his company, Tesla.

“The way we’re going to crack the uniparty system is by using a variant of how Epaminondas shattered the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra: Extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield,” Musk, a major Republican donor, wrote on Saturday.

Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon suggested Musk be deported for creating a third party and slammed the effort on Friday.

“The foul, the buffoon. Elmo the Mook, formerly known as Elon Musk, Elmo the Mook. He’s today, in another smear, and this only a foreigner could do this think about it, he’s got up on, he’s got up on Twitter right now, a poll about starting an America Party, a non-American starting an America Party,” Bannon said on his “War Room” podcast.

“No, brother, you’re not an American. You’re a South African and if we take enough time and prove the facts of that, you should be deported because it’s a crime of what you did among many,” Bannon added.

Amid contention over the “big, beautiful bill,” Trump has threatened to launch a federal probe into the billionaire’s businesses through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), once headed by Musk.

“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” he continued. “No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE.”

The president added, “Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!”
