Elon Musk’s estranged daughter has disclosed that she doesn’t ‘have a lot of money’ and shares a living space with roommates after severing ties with her father, who holds the title of the world’s richest individual.

Vivian Wilson famously fell out with her father in 2022, after she transitioned from male to female.

While advocating for Trump and other MAGA Republicans, Musk commented that Wilson fell victim to the ‘woke mind virus,’ which led his eldest child to respond on social media, highlighting that she wasn’t deceased.

Speaking to The Cut, Wilson has shed light on her life in Los Angeles without her famous father’s financial support.

‘People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal,’ the 21-year-old aspiring model said.

‘My mom is rich, right? But obviously the other one [Musk]… is unimaginable degrees of wealthy.’

Currently, she resides with three roommates due to the cost-effectiveness and is considering whether enrolling in community college this fall is a financially feasible option.

‘College is expensive,’ she said. ‘I don’t have that kind of inheritance.

Wilson said she does not have any desire to be ‘superrich’ by her father’s standards, but appreciates that she has enough money to keep a roof over her head, afford food and still have ‘some expendable income’ left over, ‘which is much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles,’ she added.

By contrast, Musk’s net worth is estimated to be about $413billion.

Wilson is the eldest of Musk’s 14 children, although she may have more half siblings that have not been made public.

She referred to her father as a ‘pathetic man-child’ after she filed a petition to change her gender and change her surname in 2022, days after her 18th birthday.

Elsewhere in the interview, Wilson opened up about her ADHD diagnosis and revealed she struggled to make friends at her ‘private high school filled with nepo babies.’

Wilson was in the same graduating class as Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple.

‘It was exactly what you’d expect of a private high school filled with nepo babies,’ Wilson said. ‘People were unhinged, and I was not popular. I didn’t talk to anyone.’

She has made several public digs at Musk since he aligned himself with Trump and the MAGA movement.

In 2024, Musk made his strongest comments yet against her decision to transition, calling what happened to his family ‘evil.’

‘I was essentially tricked into signing documents for one of my older [kids],’ he said.

‘This was really before I had any understanding of what was going on, and we had COVID going on, so there was a lot of confusion. And I was told [Vivian] might commit suicide.’

Vivian was born a twin with her brother Griffin in 2004 in California to Musk and his first wife Justine, whose maiden name Wilson she has now adopted.

Vivian reportedly came out as transgender via text to her aunt when she was 16, but implored her to keep her gender identity from her father: ‘Hey, I’m transgender, and my name is now Jenna. Don’t tell my dad.’

Musk said during an interview in 2020 that while his relationship with his daughter ‘may change… I have very good relationships with all the others [children].’

‘Can’t win them all,’ he added.

More recently, he told his biographer that his attempts at winning her over have not been successful.

‘I’ve made many overtures, but she doesn’t want to spend time with me,’ he said.
