After being asked to leave, deputies said the “Ugly Betty” actor pushed a woman on the ground at a bar and later was “pulling out fistfuls of her hair.”

YULEE, Fla. — A Hallmark star was arrested in Nassau County Thursday morning after an incident at a Yulee bar, the sheriff’s office said.

Eric Mabius, 53, is charged with misdemeanor simple battery and resisting law enforcement without violence. He was booked 5:45 a.m. Thursday, according to Nassau County inmate records. The victim declined to press charges, the agency said.

Deputies said Mabius and a 40-year-old woman were intoxicated at The Goat in Yulee around 2 a.m. A Nassau County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) social media post said the bartender asked the woman to leave several times. Then Mabius and the woman began spitting on several patrons, deputies said.

Mabius then “allegedly pushed a female victim, knocking her to the ground,” later pulling out fistfuls of her hair, the post said. A bystander managed to pull Mabius from the victim, the agency added.

Deputies said Mabius became “increasingly belligerent” when he left the building while he “repeatedly failed to comply with instructions to remain seated.”

According to the report, the actor at one point attempted to walk behind a deputy, prompting several deputies to escort him back to a bench, resulting in the resisting law enforcement charge.

Mabius starred in the ABC hit “Ugly Betty” and Showtime drama “The L Word”; in addition to several Hallmark projects “Haul Out the Holly,” “Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up” and 13 television films of the “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” series.

“This type of behavior will not be tolerated in our community, regardless of celebrity status, Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper stated. “Our deputies quickly dealt with an uncooperative individual, and we’re thankful no one was seriously injured during this unfortunate incident.”
