Eric Trump drops rogue Donald-Melania divorce claim: 'In her closet'

Eric Trump claimed in an interview Monday night that his father’s political enemies tried to break up his marriage to First Lady Melania Trump.

The son of the president made an appearance on Newsmax’s Rob Schmitt Tonight. During the show, the host showed him clips featuring Democrats expressing their discontent over the treatment of former FBI director James Comey, who was indicted last week.

Although Trump has frequently criticized the Justice Department for being weaponized, Democrats and numerous legal experts see the indictment of Comey as proof that he engaged in such actions himself.

But Eric pushed back, claiming that former president Joe Biden’s Justice Department ‘came after me like a dog,’ and treated his family horribly.

‘They raided his home! They raided Mar-a-Lago! They tried to get him divorced! They tried to separate our family!’ Eric told Schmitt.

An insider close to the businessman mentioned that the ‘divorce’ remark was actually related to Christopher Steele’s Russian dossier, which contained unflattering claims about Trump’s actions in a Moscow hotel room – allegations that Trump has consistently denied.

‘When they talk about golden showers in their paid-for-fake-dossier, paid for by Hillary Clinton, you better believe their intent is to divide a marriage,’ the source said.

The FBI raided Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 and seized documents officials believed the then-former president had illegally retained that were classified.

Melania Trump had also expressed she was ‘angry’ about the Mar-a-Lago raid.

In a September 2024 interview on Fox & Friends, she called the FBI probe an ‘invasion of privacy.’

‘I saw unpleasant stuff that nobody wants to see it,’ Melania Trump said. ‘And you get angry because, you know, nobody should be putting up with that kind of stuff.

‘Some person – I don’t even know who or how many people – they, you know, they went through my stuff.’

Eric charged that ‘[former attorney general] Merrick Garland was at the forefront of it all.’

He added: ‘And Joe Biden was at the forefront of it all when they raided our home, when they raided Mar-a-Lago, when they raided Melania’s closet, when they raided 16-year-old Barron’s room.’

During his appearance on Schmitt’s show, Trump’s first son also expressed fury over his father’s two previous impeachments – the first dealing with Trump holding up Congressional funds to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to announce an investigation into the Bidens and the second over January 6.

‘You know, they went after him for a Russia hoax that did not exist that was paid for by Hillary Clinton,’ Eric said.

‘The FBI and the DOJ spied on my father’s campaign. They de-platformed him. They weaponized every attorney general and every district attorney around the country. They indicted him 91 times, 34 times in a bogus trial in New York City,’ he continued.

President Trump was indicted in four separate cases – two having to do with his attempt to overturn the 2020 election, one related to his business practices in New York and the one involving the classified documents, which prompted the Mar-a-Lago raid.

‘They posted his mugshot. He’s the most recognizable person in the world. They posted his mugshot even though they didn’t need to. It totally backfired on him,’ Eric pointed out.

Trump posed for a mugshot as part of the Georgia election interference case.

‘They tried to go after our employees! They attacked us. They tried to bankrupt our company. They de-platformed us! They stripped every bank account away from me and the Trump Organization that you can imagine,’ Eric continued.

He has a book coming out in two weeks entitled Under Siege: My Family’s Fight to Save Our Nation

A description of the forthcoming book indicates that much of what Eric discussed on Newsmax will appear in its pages.

‘From raids on his childhood home, Mar-a-Lago, to near assassination attempts, from Russiagate to cold and corrupt court rooms, the fake news media, censorship, and character smears – this wasn’t just an attack on a president, or even his family. America itself was under siege,’ the teaser reads.
