On Christmas Eve, Rhymes admitted to the charge of carrying a concealed weapon within the hospital premises. As a consequence of his actions, he is now subject to four months of court supervision.
The incident, which has drawn significant attention, was recorded on security cameras, capturing Rhymes in the act. The footage reveals him while on duty, apparently threatening a patient by displaying a fully loaded gun in the hospital’s lobby.
For those following this case, the video mentioned was part of an earlier report, highlighting the severity of the confrontation and the swift legal response that followed.

There is also police body camera video that shows his arrest a short time later.
The body camera video shows as officers tracked down Rhymes on July 21, after, moments before, he allegedly brandished a gun during an altercation with a patient inside a packed hospital lobby.
After police retrieved a fully loaded gun from Rhymes, he then pleaded his case.
Rhymes was heard on the video saying he did show that he had a gun.
In the wake of this security scare, a University of Illinois Chicago spokesperson said in a statement, “During the incident, no shots were fired, and no injuries occurred. The hospital has implemented new and enhanced security protocols.”
Aramark, the third-party food service contractor Rhymes worked for at the time of the incident, confirmed he is no longer with the company.
