A crime drama on Prime Video is gaining traction and boasts a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Wild Cards revolves around the dynamic partnership between detective Cole Ellis, played by Giacomo Gianniotti, and con-artist Max Mitchell, portrayed by Vanessa Morgan. These two characters, with their contrasting backgrounds and motivations, join forces to tackle various criminal cases.

The first season of the Canadian show was added to Prime Video in the US earlier this month, and the second is set to be available in America in February.

Series one was reportedly first released in Canada last year and since then, the crime show has received a perfect 100% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Some viewers took to the review site to share their thoughts on the crime drama, directed by James Genn.

One wrote: ‘This is a really good series, I was surprised how much I liked it. Very well done, looking forward to season 2.’

While a second penned: ‘Found this show when the season was almost over. I’ve enjoyed every episode.

‘There’s a bit of humor, and a bit of drama, and a bit of mystery. It’s a good take on an old concept.’

Someone else said: ‘Love this show, it keeps getting better with each new episode. The chemistry between Max and Ellis is amazing.’

Another wrote: ‘Only on episode 2 but I love a cop show that I can watch with the kids. Keep up the wholesome plots.’

A fifth said: ‘Not its not Ellery Queen or Sherlock Holmes, its not meant to be. Its a show that’s just meant to be fun watch It hits the mark quite well.’

But not everyone was as impressed, as one viewer complained: ‘This is an old series out of Canada – very obvious from the trite plot (cop being paired up with a know it all civilian) and weak writing.

‘I could count on both hands the number of times the cop says “don’t say anything, just follow me” and she does just the opposite. It’s pure fluff, totally predictable and completely stupid, but for a quick trip to fantasy land it’s okay.’

Another penned: ‘Specifically logged into RT to give this a review because it has an inflated review and it’s drawing undeserved attention. This show is not good. Don’t waste your time.’

They gave their verdict on the plot and characters before ending with, ‘I wanted something to play in the background but this wasn’t even good enough for that.’

It comes after another crime drama, Deadwater Fell, has also proved popular with fans.

Netflix fans have been gripped by a ‘complex and fascinating’ crime drama, which they have dubbed ‘the next Broadchurch’.

Deadwater Fell, which will be taken down from the site in just a matter of weeks, stars David Tennant, who takes on the role of Doctor Tom Kendrick.

The 2020 drama sees Tom’s wife, Kate (Anna Madeley), and their three young children tragically killed in a house fire.

While Tom was rescued from his burning home in a quiet Scottish village, it was revealed that the five of them were drugged.

The positive drug test triggered a police investigation as the Scottish force was determined to find a motive.

After some digging into the family’s dynamic, it was uncovered that the five were ‘far from happy’.

The four-part series also stars Cush Jumbo and Matthew McNulty as neighbours Jess Milner and Steve Campbell, who is also a Police Sergeant.
