'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest' hosting 1st ever Central Time zone countdown in Chicago on ABC7

CHICAGO — For the first time in its storied history, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” the nation’s most popular New Year’s celebration, will include a live countdown from Chicago’s Central Time zone. This addition marks a significant milestone for the event, which has been a staple of American traditions for over 50 years.

Chicago’s vibrant atmosphere and festive spirit will be broadcast to households nationwide, featuring a new host, live performances, and real-time updates from the heart of the celebration. This new segment promises to bring the Windy City’s unique energy right into viewers’ living rooms.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson joined ABC7 to talk more about the big announcement on Monday morning.

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2026” airs Wednesday, Dec. 31, live on ABC beginning at 7 p.m. CT.
