Cardi B’s latest publicity stunt has some of her fans scratching their heads and asking “why?”‘

The artist, 32, who recently won a $24million civil assault trial, decided to do some old-fashioned marketing to promote her upcoming album. 

In a video release on Friday, the Grammy winner decided to portray a starving artist trying to sell her CD on the subway. 

As the doors open to the car, the rapper walked into the frame wearing white joggers and a black hoodie pulled over her long, red hair. 

‘Good evening everybody, I’m trying to sell these CDs, I’m trying to change my life around,’ she started as she walked through the train car wearing black slide sandals. 

‘I used to be a professional ballerina, well, uh, I’m trying to set a better example for my kids,’ she mentioned while moving through the sparsely populated car. 

Cardi B’s fans are split regarding her most recent publicity stunt to promote her upcoming album “Am I The Drama,” where the Grammy winner depicts a struggling artist attempting to sell her CD on the subway.

‘If you could please buy my new album, Am I The Drama, $9.99,’ she said approaching a potential customer.  

‘We’ve got the vinyl,’ she said, turning to another, for about 20, 30 dollars, you know what I’m saying, please support a mother of three.’

When the first person handed her money, Cardi tucked it into her hoodie and said ‘Thank you very much, I really appreciate it.’

Walking toward the camera she said, ‘Please support a mother of three September 19, Am I The Drama!’

The scene cut to a subway rat adding an unexpected bit of drama as the camera operator caught it running through the station.

‘Oh my God!’ Cardi repeated several times, adding, ‘I can’t, I can’t, I can’t.’

The clip ended with her calming saying ‘Get me out of here.’

After seeing the stunt on social media, fans divided in their reactions.

Some saw it as desperate. ‘This is so embarrassing… she looks homeless,’ one person stated on the Pop Base X account. 

‘Cardi B’s subway stunt for ‘AM I THE DRAMA?’ is just another desperate cry for attention. Real artists don’t need to stoop this low,’ criticized another.

‘Desperation at its finest,’ agreed a commenter. 

Fans were divided in their reactions after seeing the promo on social media 

Some thought the unusual marketing ploy was ‘genius’

Others thought the Up artist hit the mark.

‘Idc what anyone says, the marketing for this era has literally been GENIUS! She’s been going outside & not staying inside letting her fans promote her era using Bing AI!’ 

‘ All the haters in the comments prove that the rollout strategy that y’all are all hating on, IS WORKING. I’d never be invested in someone I dislike. Best rollout in years!!’ claimed another, adding, ‘Many (including your fave) will duplicate after this, y’all will see.’

Am I The Drama will be Cardi B’s first album since her debut album Invasion of Privacy in 2018.

On Saturday, Cardi B was seen rocking a Britney Spears-inspired school girl look as she surprised fans with an album release party outside in NYC

She wore a blue plaid skirt as well as a white blouse and gray vest on top as she joined fans in the Bronx

The rapper was spotted talking to fans while also unveiling new music

The Bodak Yellow hitmaker was seen holding a bouquet of flowers in her hand at one point during the event
