'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' home release dates announced

Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is arriving at home following its record-breaking box office run. Fans can watch the film on digital platforms starting Sept. 23, then own it on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD beginning Oct. 14. Bonus features include deleted scenes, a gag reel, featurettes, and filmmaker commentary by director Matt Shakman.

LOS ANGELES — Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is headed home following its blockbuster theatrical run. The all-new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be available on digital platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home starting September 23. Fans can then add the film to their collections when it arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on October 14.

The retro-futuristic adventure introduces Marvel’s First Family: Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing). Together, they balance life as heroes and as family while confronting cosmic-scale threats, including a mysterious space god and his herald.

Certified Fresh and ranked among the year’s top 10 highest-grossing films worldwide, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” has been praised by critics as “one of the best superhero movies of all time” (Men’s Journal) and celebrated for its “jaw-dropping spectacle and epic action” (Comic Book Movie).

The home release is packed with exclusive bonus features, including:


  • Deleted Scenes such as “Thanksgiving Soup Kitchen,” “Fantastic Four Day,” “Subterranea,” “Birthday Sweater” and “Taking Turns.”

  • Gag Reel featuring cast and crew bloopers.

  • Featurettes like “Meet the First Family,” “Fantastic Futurism,” and “From Beyond and Below,” exploring the making of the film, its retro design, and its larger-than-life characters including Galactus, Mole Man and the Silver Surfer.

  • Audio Commentary by director Matt Shakman and production designer Kasra Farahani.

For collectors, Amazon is offering a SteelBook edition with a magnet-front variant cover, five collector cards and a special “Fantastic Four: First Steps #1” comic. Walmart will release an exclusive pop-up Blu-ray edition featuring the Fantasticar and retro-inspired artwork.

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is produced by Marvel Studios and directed by Matt Shakman.
