NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A boy was killed Sunday night after a crash involving a scooter and a tanker truck in East Nashville, according to officials.
Authorities said around 10:30 p.m., the child and a family member rode a motorized scooter to a market near 5th Avenue South and Main Street.
The family member went into the store, leaving the child — believed to be between 10 to 12 years of age — on the scooter with the engine running.
Video footage from the scene reportedly showed the child turning the throttle, sending the scooter onto Main Street in the path of a tanker truck.
The child was hit by the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said no charges are expected to be filed against the truck driver. No additional information was released.
