Palmdale Street shooting on Jacksonville's Northwest side leaves man dead

Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the man was shot around 9 p.m. Sunday night on Palmdale Street.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead Monday morning after a shooting Sunday night on Jacksonville’s Northwest side near Lem Turner Road and Edgewood Avenue, according to investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. La’Tosha Thompson said officers responded to the 2600 block of Palmdale Street around 9 p.m. Sunday to calls of a person shot.

When they arrived on scene, they found a man in his late 20s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. JFRD paramedics responded to the scene and took the man to the hospital, where he later died, Thompson said.

Investigators are still working to learn what happened leading up to the shooting, and have not yet classified the shooting as a homicide or otherwise, Thompson said.
