According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the man died at a local hospital after being shot multiple times.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his late-30s was shot and killed on Wheat Road on Jacksonville’s Westside early Thursday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Sgt. La’Tosha Thompson said officers responded to the shooting, which happened in the 7400 block of Wheat Road, around 4 a.m. and found the man suffering from several gunshot wounds.
According to Thompson, the man died after being taken to a local hospital. He lived in the area of where he was found, Thompson said.
Thompson further stated that JSO’s Homicide Unit is working to gather surveillance video to come up with a description of the suspect(s) and that witnesses are cooperating with JSO’s ongoing investigation on the shooting.
Juan Cabrera, who lives in the area where the shooting took place, told First Coast News he’s seen an increase of people shooting near the neighborhood and said just two weeks ago, his car windshield was shattered by a stray bullet.
