The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says this is the 89th traffic death in Duval County this year.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is dead after an overnight, wrong-way crash closed parts of the Hart Expressway.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it happened just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday when a man in his mid-40s was driving in an Infinity going westbound in the inside lane. He was then hit by a woman driving a Nissan Altima going eastbound in the westbound lane, officers say.

Both were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment by Jacksonville Fire Rescue.

The man is in stable condition, but the woman died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

JSO kept the westbound lanes of the Hart Expressway closed for parts of the morning to continue investigating the crash.

Officers say this is the 89th traffic death in Duval County this year.
