A group of college-aged activists has been apprehended following allegations of orchestrating a prolonged campaign involving intimidation, vandalism, and threats. These actions were reportedly aimed at pressuring University of Michigan officials, various businesses, and institutions with Jewish connections to sever their ties with Israel, as revealed by FBI Director Kash Patel on Wednesday.
The federal indictment outlines that the accused orchestrated a series of attacks, which included spray-painting messages such as “Intifada” and “Free Palestine” on homes, leaving threatening notes on doors, and causing damage to private properties throughout eastern Michigan.
“These individuals are accused of spending over a year conducting a targeted and coordinated campaign of violence and intimidation,” stated Patel in a press release to News Media. “Their actions were allegedly fueled by the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, resulting in vandalized properties, threatening messages, and violent incursions into homes where children were present.”
The alleged campaign specifically targeted leaders at the University of Michigan, elected officials, business proprietors, and a police officer.
