FBI Says Kash Patel Is Not in Russia, Disputing MS NOW Report

WASHINGTON — FBI Director Kash Patel on Wednesday denounced an MS Now report claiming he had arrived in Moscow for an undisclosed Russia trip. The FBI said Patel was actually at Liberty University in Virginia.

“We don’t know what Kash Patel is doing in Russia. And that’s one of the things that’s concerning our FBI sources — they don’t know either,” MS Now correspondent Ken Dilanian said during an on-air report, citing “two people familiar with the matter.”

The FBI rejected the report in a post on X, writing, “MS Now’s ‘sources’ are ‘familiar’ with NOTHING!” The bureau also shared footage of the erroneous report alongside video showing Patel at the evangelical university.

FBI Director Kash Patel was, in fact, visiting Liberty University in Virginia on Wednesday, the bureau said, slamming MS Now’s report that he had secretly traveled to Russia. FBI Rapid Response

“Left: MS Now reports two sources familiar say Kash Patel just landed in Russia. Right: Here’s where Kash Patel actually is … Liberty U, doing a law enforcement appreciation event,” the bureau said.

Patel shared the FBI’s denial and added: “Facts over clickbait.”

Politico reported in July that Patel was expected to visit Russia in mid-October.

MS Now did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Several other senior Trump administration officials have traveled to Moscow this year.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe visited the Russian capital on Aug. 25, reportedly carrying a warning against hostilities toward NATO members, including cyberattacks, as tensions surrounding Ukraine continued to rise.

Meanwhile, Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have led efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. The pair met with Russian President Vladimir Putin last month before traveling to Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
