Sarah Ferguson has revealed that she and Princess Diana were arrested at her hen do before her wedding to Prince Andrew in 1986.

The Duchess of York, 63, divulged the antics on The Kelly Clarkson Show, which aired yesterday, explaining that her entourage had dressed up as police officers for a night out in London.

They headed to a club where they were refused service because the venue was meant to be a place for ‘fun’ before they had a run in with the police for impersonating officers.

Speaking on the show, Fergie said: ‘We sat down, and the waiter came up to us and said, “Excuse me, this is a members club. It’s for fun, and we don’t serve police officers here.”‘

An astounded Kelly Clarkson replied: ‘They thought you were real police officers?’ to which the Duchess said: ‘Yes!’

After leaving the club, the gang ended up getting caught by the real police and were driven away in a van, hiding their engagement rings once they were inside.

According to the duchess, Diana, then the Princess of Wales, spotted some ‘smoky bacon-flavoured crisps’ in the van and ‘started taking them and eating them’.

The shocked police officer shouted at the princess saying: ‘You can’t do that!’ before they eventually realised they had royalty in the back of their vehicle and released them.

It has been reported that the excitement did not stop there and the group then headed to the exclusive Mayfair club Annabel’s where Prince Andrew was also reportedly partying.

Failing to bump into Prince Andrew at the club, the gang later played a trick on him by shutting the Buckingham Palace gates as he approached in his car, making him fear an ambush.

Speaking of the riotous occasion, royal biographer Sarah Bradford previously told The Daily Mail: ‘There was always trouble afoot when the two women got together, like on Fergie’s hen night when she and Diana wore grey wigs, dressed up as policewomen and pretended to arrest a “prostitute” outside Buckingham Palace.

‘They were put in a police van and driven down The Mall until one of the policemen recognised Diana. He was so shocked he couldn’t believe it and said, “Oh my heavens, it’s the Princess of Wales!”‘

Fergie and Diana met as teenagers and the pair were friends before they both entered the royal family, with Diana reportedly setting Fergie up with her former husband, Prince Andrew.

Dispelling rumours of a feud with Diana, the duchess previously told People: ‘We promised each other we would always be together – there was never any daylight between us.

‘But everybody wanted that because we were so strong together. People want to break something so strong.’

She added they were ‘best friends’ and that she called the Princess of Wales ‘Duch’.

‘She taught me so much of public life. She was so brave. We used to have the most incredible time together, she added.

Speaking in a 60-minute interview with Glamour editor Samantha Barry in New York last Monday to discuss her upcoming romance book, A Most Intriguing Lady, Fergie said that William and Harry’s late mother would be ‘so proud’ of her children and grandchildren – adding that she believes King Charles feels the same way.

She said: ‘Diana and I, we played a lot and had a great time and I feel really strongly – and so would the King – [that she would] be so proud of the grandchildren. And of the family. And I do believe in family unity. I think forgiveness is key.’

The revelations come as Fergie attended the launch of Imogen Edwards-Jones’ latest book Have You Got Anything Stronger? in London yesterday.

The duchess beamed as she donned a £1,555 white cropped embellished leather jacket from Alice + Olivia covered in chunky studs paired with a little black dress with a flowing skirt for the event at Daunt Books.

She kept her auburn hair loose with a dainty headband, showing off her pearl stud earrings.

Fergie was seen posing with the new book with model Yasmin Le Bon and author Imogen Edwards-Jones.

Some other high profile stars also attended the launch, including ex-Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife, Samantha, as well as television presenter Claudia Winkleman.

For the outing, Sarah kept her makeup neutral and looked to be having a brilliant time as she posed against book cases and spoke animatedly with other attendees.

She then took her look from casual to party as she enjoyed a night out in Mayfair, swapping out her leather jacket for a chic white £597 blazer from Wolf & Badger to make an appearance at Harry’s Bar, a swanky private members’ club.

The royal teamed her look with chic lace-up boots, and had managed to ladder her tights while dashing around town.
