The Georgia Department of Human Services has announced an update regarding the distribution of SNAP benefits in light of new instructions from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This follows the recent conclusion of the federal government shutdown.

Residents of Georgia who have been anticipating their full November SNAP benefits can expect to receive them shortly, as confirmed by state officials.

According to the Georgia Department of Human Services, SNAP recipients who have already passed their scheduled distribution dates and received only partial benefits will receive the remainder of their funds by Tuesday, November 18. For all other recipients, benefits will be disbursed in full according to the usual issuance schedule for the rest of the month.

Late Wednesday evening, President Donald Trump signed legislation to officially end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. This action followed a House vote approving a bill previously passed by the Senate.

Late Wednesday night, President Donald Trump signed a bill to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. The move came after the House voted on a bill that had earlier been passed by the Senate.

The shutdown caused a delay in SNAP benefits to Americans across the country. The federal food program serves about 42 million people, about 1 in 8 Americans, in lower-income households, the Associated Press reported.

Georgia DHS officials said SNAP recipients should continue to lock their EBT cards between purchases to prevent unauthorized use.

“Recipients can lock their cards using the “lock my card everywhere” function via the ConnectEBT app on their Android or Apple device,” officials said.

Last December, Georgia DHS launched the card lock tool to help combat SNAP benefit theft, allowing SNAP recipients to protect their EBT cards between purchases/

Officials said anyone who has trouble accessing the app can also log in to their account via the ConnectEBT website to lock/unlock their cards and check their balance.
