Flight Attendant Allegedly Used Travel Benefits to Scam Elderly Woman

A 24-year-old Brooklyn flight attendant has been arrested after allegedly using her employee travel benefits to defraud an elderly woman of about $25,000, spending the money on international trips, Apple products and UberEats deliveries.

Destiny Blake was taken into custody by US Customs and Border Protection at Miami International Airport last Friday evening. She was arrested on a warrant from Flagler County, Florida, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said.

According to investigators, Blake allegedly carried out an elaborate sweepstakes scam over the course of a year, targeting an elderly woman who lives in Palm Coast, Florida, and taking approximately $25,000 from her.

Police said the scheme began in November 2025, when Blake called the woman and falsely claimed to represent Publishers Clearing House.

Blake allegedly told the victim she had won a contest but needed to mail a $500 gift card to an address in Brooklyn, New York, before she could collect her supposed winnings.

Around the same time, the woman lost access to her email after its password was changed. Investigators said the account was then replaced by a similar-looking email address that the victim had never created.

Between November 15 and November 19, 2025, the victim withdrew $14,000 from her bank accounts. During that period, Blake received $14,220, according to the FCSO.

On November 18, Blake allegedly used free flight privileges available through her job to travel from New York to Daytona Beach, Florida, police said.

She went to the victim’s home and allegedly obtained her credit card information. Police said an Uber collected Blake roughly 15 minutes after her arrival and drove her back to Daytona Beach International Airport.

On the journey back to New York, Blake allegedly used the victim’s credit card at airports in Daytona, Florida, and Charlotte, North Carolina, according to the FCSO.

Flagler County detectives also found that Blake had added herself as an authorized user on the victim’s account and had opened a separate Apple Card in her own name.

The victim’s family later discovered a note inside the home instructing the woman to tell the credit card company that Blake was her granddaughter and had permission to use the card, police alleged.

Police said Blake charged $10,590.30 to the victim’s credit card between November 16 and December 11, 2025.

The spending included $1,523.16 on Apple products and $1,740.91 on an eBay order. About $1,300 was spent at T-Mobile, Ugg, a Brooklyn hair salon and through dozens of Uber Eats orders.

‘Her wings were clipped by our detectives and with the help of CPB she was arrested. Her next trip? Flagler County to be held accountable for her crimes,’ Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement

In all, 88 transactions were made on the victim’s card, the FCSO reported.

One transaction was made in Jamaican dollars in Kingston, Jamaica, two days after Blake traveled there while working for American Airlines, investigators said.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement: ‘Most flight attendants use their benefits to see the world – Blake used her’s to further a scam against a senior resident, live a lavish lifestyle using stolen bank cards and thinking she could get away with it.’
