(The Hill) – Florida governor candidate James Fishback on Wednesday said his campaign was banned from Waffle House restaurants across the Sunshine State.
Fishback planned to visit every Waffle House in the state to connect with voters over “hot coffee and warm waffles.”
“In January, I announced on The Tucker Carlson Show that I would visit every Waffle House in Florida to meet voters where they are. I was grateful that Waffle House Corporate gave us permission to do exactly that,” the candidate wrote in a post on social platform X.
“This morning, Waffle House abruptly revoked our permission, and criminally trespassed us from all of their Florida locations,” he continued. “I am disappointed in Waffle House’s decision, especially since they had given us explicit permission to visit their restaurants just 3 weeks ago.”
The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the matter.
The Republican’s campaign made stops at restaurants in Madison, St. Pete, Bonifay, Marianna and Jacksonville, Fla. before the ban.
Fishback has been criticized for alleged inappropriate behavior while on the campaign trail. Some have also referred to the GOP candidate’s remarks about fellow Florida gubernatorial hopeful Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) as racist.
He was also accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl, causing a local school district to cut ties with him, as reported by NBC News.
