Florida Man Receives Lenient Sentence in Serious Crime Against Young Girl

In a shocking case from Florida, a man has been sentenced to a mere 25 years in prison after luring a 13-year-old girl under the pretense of buying him food, only to abdupt her, confine her in his vehicle, and subsequently record the assault for hours.

The convict, 25-year-old Bryan Oyanguren Rosado, faced the legal system last week, admitting his guilt in the alarming abduction and sexual assault carried out in Temple Terrace.

Originally, Rosado stood to serve a minimum of 330 years if convicted fully. Nevertheless, a plea agreement drastically reduced his time to 25 years.

Assistant State Attorney Joseph Kudia expressed concern over the leniency of the sentence, remarking, “Quite candidly, in my unit’s review, the number probably should have been higher than this,” as reported by the Tampa Bay Times.

The heinous crime unfolded when Rosado abducted the unsuspecting teenager from a parking lot within the Doral Oaks apartment complex, further detailed by the news outlet.

He had approached a group of kids and promised them $20 if they bought him food from a nearby Burger King and, while most of the children declined, the girl agreed, police said.

The teenager arrived back with the food just before 6pm and handed it over to him through his car window, the outlet reported.

According to court records obtained by the outlet, Rosado drove in the direction of the exit before he spun back around and pulled up near the girl, grabbed her with his hand over her mouth and pushed into the passenger seat.

The young girl returned around three hours later and recalled a horrific sequence of events to law enforcement.

According to the outlet, she told police that as he sped away, she had rolled down the window and yelled for help. Rosado pulled over and ordered her to stop screaming before she tried to jump out of the car.

She was pulled back into the car by her jacket and he locked the doors and windows, the girl recalled, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

After he drove her to a construction site near Temple Terrace Highway, he parked and took off his pants.

According to the arrest report obtained by the outlet, Rosado raped her in three ways and said he would drive her back to Doral Oaks if she promised not to tell anyone about the incident.

As he drove her back, however, police had been called after people had heard the girl screaming for help hours ago and the area was overrun with officers.

He instead drove her to a nearby office parking lot and let her out, the outlet reported.

A tip eventually led police to Rosado and he was arrested on March 4.

On Rosado’s phone, police discovered a series of disturbing videos reportedly depicting the rape. In addition to the 20 videos of the incident, police found 60 other images and videos of child sex abuse material, prosecutors said.

In court, Hillsborough Circuit Judge Mark Kiser asked about the low sentencing and whether the victim approved.

Kudia said she was and noted the ‘mental and emotional anguish’ of having to testify at trial, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

‘That’s why it’s so low?’ Kiser asked, according to the outlet.

‘I wouldn’t say it’s low. Comparatively, it could be higher,’ Kudia reportedly answered.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, the Hillsborough Office of the State Attorney said: ‘At the center of this case is a 13-year-old girl who has already been through more than any child should ever have to endure. Her family did not want her to have to sit for a deposition or go through a trial and relive the trauma of what occurred.

‘After the plea, she was able to start school this week and focus on being a kid, not on a court case. They are satisfied with the sentence, and their wishes mattered to us. Crime victims deserve to be heard. Their voices matter in the pursuit of justice and listening to them is a part of every decision we make.’

The Office of the State Attorney noted that Rosado’s sentence will be followed by 15 years of probation and he will be designated as a sexual predator for life.

Before he entered his guilty plea, Rosado asked to send a letter ‘for the victim’s family’s benefit,’ the outlet reported.

‘Just to show my remorse. To just allow them to know that I feel like that’s something they deserve at least,’ he added.

Rosado faced life in prison if convicted, and the 25-year deal was the best he would get, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
