In a startling incident in Martin County, Florida, a man found himself in legal trouble after a round of target practice went awry, tragically resulting in his neighbor’s horse being shot. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported that Felipe Pascual-Andres, 28, was engaging in target shooting in his backyard with a recently acquired firearm when things took a dangerous turn.
Pascual-Andres admitted to authorities that his aim strayed, with three rounds veering off course and escaping the confines of his property. One of these bullets penetrated a neighboring house, traveling through a door and wall before finally coming to a stop on the kitchen windowsill. Another stray bullet ended up on the back porch, causing alarm among the residents.
The third bullet, unfortunately, struck a horse belonging to his neighbor, causing a gunshot wound. Fortunately, the injured animal is expected to recover. The sheriff’s office released a photo depicting blood trickling down the horse’s leg, a stark reminder of the incident’s gravity.
Authorities have taken Pascual-Andres into custody, highlighting the serious consequences of careless firearm use. Pascual-Andres was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and could be facing additional charges. He was transported to the Martin County Jail.
