David McKeown, 47, is facing 25 charges for possession of child sexual abuse material.
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Volusia County teacher accused of using artificial intelligence to create child sexual abuse images of his students is being held on no bond, according to the Holly Hill Police Department.
David McKeown, 47, is facing 25 felony charges for possession of child sexual abuse material, his arrest affidavit states.
An anonymous tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported that a Discord user had inappropriate images of children. Investigators identified McKeown using the phone number and IP address associated with the account, the report states.
Investigators said McKeown had used pictures of students to create AI-generated child sexual abuse images.
McKeown was a sixth-grade teacher at UBIC Academy and has since been fired from the school.
“We are shocked and deeply grieved by the serious allegations of misconduct against him. Our employment relationship with David McKeown has been terminated, and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities,” UBIC Academy School Board Chair Don Ross said in a statement to parents.
McKeown is slated to be formally charged on July 15.
