LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Six Republican electors from Nevada are set to face trial next summer after entering not guilty pleas to charges of forgery linked to the 2020 election.
In December 2020, following President Joe Biden’s victory, a group of six Republicans conducted a symbolic ceremony where they signed documents indicating their support for then-President Donald Trump. Although this act held no legal authority, the group forwarded these certificates to Washington.
In 2023, a grand jury in Clark County indicted the six individuals, including Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald, Clark County Party Chairman Jesse Law, Jim DeGraffenreid, Durward James Hindle III, Shawn Meehan, and Eileen Rice. They face charges of submitting a false document for filing and uttering a forged instrument, both felonies that can lead to prison sentences of four to five years.
