DENVER (KDVR) — A former Western Slope sheriff’s deputy is “on the run from” dozens of charges stemming from alleged child sex abuse material, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
CBI in a Tuesday press release said they are looking for information to locate and apprehend Jesus Damian Nieblas, 28, who was a deputy at the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office until he resigned in June. Nieblas is facing 28 felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child and 27 misdemeanor counts of persons required to report child abuse or neglect, CBI said.
Investigators allege Nieblas had 27 pieces of child sex abuse material in his possession, CBI said, but there is no indication any children from San Miguel County were victims of the alleged abuse.
CBI said Nieblas resigned before the agency’s investigation started, and CBI served a warrant at his Norwood residence on July 10.
Investigators believe Nieblas is not in San Miguel County anymore.
Anyone with information about Nieblas’s whereabouts can contact CBI Special Agent Caroline Keevey at 970-248-7500. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
Nieblas’ bond when he is apprehended will be set at $100,000 cash only.
