PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A man who led police on a pursuit ending at a retirement home in Plainfield Township was previously sentenced to life for murder nearly three decades ago, only to be resentenced two years prior.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 46-year-old Cody Skaggs, according to an insider familiar with the case.
Skaggs, at the age of 16 and just days from his 17th birthday, was involved in a notorious June 1996 murder at a Wyoming restaurant. The incident involved a robbery at Lennie’s Place, which tragically resulted in the fatal shooting of night manager Richard Morris. Skaggs had recently been dismissed from his job at the restaurant. Although he was said to have planned the robbery and supplied the firearm, he was not alleged to have been the shooter.
