Former City Councilman Dan Halloran, who was removed from his position due to his involvement in a bribery scandal aimed at influencing the 2013 mayoral election with $200,000, was discovered to have numerous child sexual abuse videos on his phone upon his return to the United States from Cuba.
Upon arrival at Miami International Airport during a layover flight, the 54-year-old Halloran was caught with 1,362 videos containing child sexual abuse material concealed on his iPhone, as reported by Local 10 News.
Reportedly, Halloran, who had held a seat on the City Council from 2010 to 2013, was singled out by US Customs and Border Protection officials for a thorough inspection of his electronic devices following his arrival from Camagüey, Cuba, according to details from a federal criminal complaint obtained by the news outlet.

Authorities discovered about 35 videos featuring “prepubescent” girls being victimized, according to the outlet.
Halloran, who now works as a dive instructor while living in the Long Island suburb of Floral Park, admitted to “knowingly” having child sexual abuse videos on his cellphone, according to the complaint.
The ex-politician told authorities “two-thirds to three-quarters” of the 1,362 videos in a hidden album depicted child sexual abuse, according to the complaint.
Holloran was buying the criminal content on the messaging app Telegram, the complaint said.
He was booked into the Broward County Main Jail but was in custody at the Federal Detention Center in Miami as of Tuesday morning on two federal child pornography charges.
