The man was shot in the legs and will survive, CCSO said.
COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies shot a man in the Fort While area Wednesday after he pulled a gun on them, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office siad.
According to the CCSO, all deputies are “unharmed.”
Three CCSO deputies responded to a home on Washington Avenue in the Three Rivers Estates subdivision, intending to a serve a final eviction notice, at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
CCSO says that when the deputies arrived, the man who was being evicted pointed a gun at them. Two of the deputies returned fire, and he was shot in the legs. The deputies were not shot.
The suspect was taken to a trauma center and was in stable condition, police said.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the shooting.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the man for aggravated assault against the deputies. Criminal charges are pending.
“This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers facing law enforcement each day,” CCSO said in a Facebook post. “This incident is also a reminder that threatening harm against our deputies is unacceptable and will not be tolerated, and any attempt to harm our deputies will be dealt with accordingly.”
