Chicago Loop stabbing: 4 charged after man stabbed to death outside Wabash Street restaurant, police say

CHICAGO — Authorities have announced charges against four individuals in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Chicago’s Loop, according to a statement released by the police on Tuesday.

The incident involves Samuel Alvarado Moreno, 23, and three teenagers, who have been implicated in the tragic event.

Moreno faces a felony charge for causing criminal damage to government property. Meanwhile, among the teenagers, a 14-year-old has been charged with felony murder. Another 14-year-old is facing charges of armed robbery, and a 16-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder as well as a felony count of mob action.

Moreno was charged with one felony count of criminal damage to government property.

A 14-year-old boy was charged with one count of felony murder, another 14-year-old boy was charged with one count of armed robbery and a 16-year-old boy was charged with one county of first degree murder and a felony county of mob action.

Chicago police said the man was found unresponsive in the Loop’s 200-block of South Wabash Avenue around 7:20 a.m. Sunday.

The victim, who suffered an apparent puncture wound to his body, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

ABC7 has been told the victim was a man experiencing homelessness.

Chicago police have not released a motive in the attack.
