US Marine veteran and Fox News commentator Dakota Meyer sharply criticized the public attention on Lindsay Clancy’s emotional state after a judge declared a mistrial in the case involving the deaths of her three children.
Clancy, 36, is now expected to face a retrial after a jury made up of nine women and three men could not reach a verdict on whether she was guilty of murder or manslaughter in the deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 18-month-old Callan in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023.
Meyer, a Medal of Honor recipient recognized for his actions during the War in Afghanistan, pushed back against any sympathy for Clancy during an appearance on Fox on Friday afternoon.
‘I just want to say: Who cares how she’s feeling? Nobody cares,’ he fumed. ‘The reality is I hope she is suffering a tenth of what her child was suffering as she stood behind her child with her fan, with her workout band and she choked and listened and felt her child squirm and fight against this, and worry about how this woman’s feeling?’
Meyer added that although he is ‘sure she is struggling,’ he views efforts to frame the discussion around empathy for Clancy as deeply offensive.
‘This is absolutely absurd and appalling that we are trying to find empathy over fighting justice for these three innocent children who this woman brutally murdered,’ he said.
He then made a glib comparison between Clancy and people he had killed in combat in Afghanistan.
‘But what I’m going to tell you is the fact that we’re having empathy for this human being, she is nothing less than her evil. I’ll say this. I’ve probably taken the lives of men who deserved it less than this woman,’ he said.

Emily Compagno, a fellow Fox News star, also wondered about how women could have possibly taken up Clancy’s cause.
‘Why is someone in psychiatric care wearing mascara?’ she asked. ‘Why is there some kind of effort at equating this with feminism, which many have shaped it as? How do you see this?’
Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial at Plymouth Superior Court on Friday afternoon.
Clancy admits strangling her children with exercise bands but denies it was murder.
The former nurse said she was overmedicated while suffering from postpartum depression and that the cocktail of drugs she was prescribed brought on psychosis.
She tried to kill herself by jumping out the upstairs window of the home she shared with ex-husband Patrick Clancy in the wake of the killings.
The suicide attempt failed but left Clancy paralyzed and permanently confined to a wheelchair.
Jurors spent more than 37 hours deliberating five-and-a-half weeks of evidence, with one refusing to side with the others late Thursday and early Friday.

Clancy’s attorney Kevin Reddington sought an emergency order to try and force jurors to enter one final round of deliberations.
A hearing with a justice of Massachusetts’ Supreme Judicial Court was held, but quickly ruled in favor of Judge Sullivan’s original plan to declare a mistrial.
Clancy remains charged with murder and is expected to stay at a psychiatric hospital until her case is resolved.
Prosecutor Tim Cruz has not yet confirmed that he plans to try Clancy again, but a retrial seems likely.
Speaking after the mistrial was declared, he maintained his view that Clancy’s killings of her children were cold-blooded, calculated murder.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for September 29.
Prosecutors could opt to try Clancy on identical charges – first and second-degree murder, as well as manslaughter.
They could seek to retry her on less serious charges, likely manslaughter.
They may also opt to have a judge decide the verdict themselves, rather than put the case to a jury again.
Friday’s mistrial, on the seventh day of deliberations, leaves the case unresolved.
In the end, the decision seemed to surprise no one in the courtroom.
Neither Clancy nor her family showed emotion as the judge announced the trial was ending without a resolution.
Clancy’s trial attracted international attention.
On Friday afternoon, Reddington suggested it would be impossible to find an impartial panel of jurors to try a case that has attracted international attention.
Reddington said Clancy was ‘not good’ when a reporter asked how she was doing after the mistrial.
Her parents and her sister were escorted by state police from the courthouse, saying nothing to reporters.
Clancy’s ex-husband Patrick, the trial’s first witness, has said in past interviews that he forgives her and believes her actions were the result of mental illness.
A statement released by his attorney Friday said: ‘the prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful.’
