A tragic incident unfolded at Fresno High School in California, where a student passed away after collapsing during a physical education class. This unfortunate event has left the school community in shock and mourning.
According to a representative from Fresno Unified School District, the collapse occurred around lunchtime, prompting immediate action from the school’s staff. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene following the distressing event.
Despite the swift arrival of medical personnel and the student’s subsequent transport to a nearby hospital, it was sadly confirmed that the student did not survive.
Witnessing the sudden emergency, fellow students were left in disbelief and heartbroken by the loss of their classmate. One student recounted the unsettling sight of emergency teams arriving on campus soon after the incident was reported.
One student described seeing emergency crews arrive shortly after the medical call was made.
“I am going to think about it a lot ’cause it could happen to anyone else,” said Giovanni, a Fresno High junior.
It remains unclear what the student was doing at the time of the collapse.
One classmate said they believed it may have occurred during a P.E. drill or test, but Fresno Unified has not confirmed that detail.
In a statement, the district said, “Our hearts are with the student’s family, friends, and school community during this incredibly difficult time.”
Neighbors also expressed shock at the news and said their hearts went out to the family grieving the loss of their child.
No additional information has been released by the district.
