Frito-Lay Worker Killed by Stray Bullet at Sam’s Club After Fight

A fatal dispute outside a Nashville lounge ended with a bullet piercing the metal exterior of a nearby Sam’s Club, striking and killing an uninvolved Frito-Lay employee who was working in the chip aisle, police said.

Authorities identified the victim as Paris Carlock, 55, of Murfreesboro. He was completing an early-morning product inventory near the center of the store shortly after 4 a.m. when he was hit in the head by the gunfire.

Sam’s Club employees quickly tried to help Carlock before he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an argument that started inside Lavo Lounge on Antioch Pike, located a short distance from the Sam’s Club.

Police said security removed the people involved from the lounge, but the dispute reportedly spilled outside and continued. Gunshots were heard as multiple vehicles left the area.

The department described Carlock as an “innocent” victim.
