Top female water polo player is probed over claims she MOLESTED two rivals during college game – but teammates say allegations against her are nonsense

A female water polo player is being investigated over claims she molested two of her rivals while she led her team to victory in a college game.
Sophomore Nina Flynn was accused of inappropriately touching the intimate body parts of two opposing players during a match last month and was temporarily suspended by her team, UC Irvine.
But the decision attracted the ire of her teammates who refused to play in a prestigious tournament the next week as Flynn denies the allegations.
And a parent of another player set up a GoFundMe on behalf of Flynn claiming that every water polo game is guilty of the violations she is accused of. The page has raised more than $27,000.
The case against Flynn centers around a game between UC Irvine and Loyola Marymount during a February 16 match.

She scored four goals against LMU, helping her team win 11-8.
After receiving complaints from two players, UC Irvine suspended Flynn but the suspension was lifted on March 10.
Despite this she is still being formally investigated by the university’s Title IX office which regulates sex-based discrimination in sport.
Title IX regulations forbids the intentional touching of a complainant’s intimate body parts without consent.
These include the genitals, anus, groin, breast and buttocks.

Flynn’s attorney Alison P. Saros told local outlet the Orange County Register: ‘Nina maintains she is not responsible in any way for the allegations and that after with (the) Title IX (office) and film analysis and other evidence presented the suspension was lifted and she was allowed to return to the pool while the investigation continues.’
Flynn received an ‘honorable mention’ at the 2022 at the All-American nationals and is the older sister of Stanford and US national team player Jenna Flynn.
The GoFundMe, set up by David Tedesco, points out that the Title IX regulations are ‘so broad, every water polo game, male or female, is full of such violations.’
It continues: ‘Based upon these accusations, UCI could expel Nina from UCI and refer the matter for criminal prosecution or exclude her from the UCI women’s water polo team, among other sanctions.’

‘Nina and the rest of the UCI women’s water polo team vehemently deny these accusations and are determined to not only fight for Nina’s innocence, but also for the integrity of water polo.
‘If a Title IX investigation becomes the forum for alleged game time transgressions, chaos to all water polo programs will result.’
Her teammates also boycotted the Barbara Kalbus Invitational on Feb. 24-26.
The Kalbus tournament, hosted by UCI, is annually one of the biggest events on the women’s college water polo calendar.
