California Governor Gavin Newsom recently admitted that he is considering a presidential run in 2028, stating candidly that he would “be lying” if he said otherwise.

During a conversation with CBS News’s Robert Costa, recorded on Thursday, Newsom was questioned about his potential presidential ambitions. Costa inquired whether it would be accurate to suggest that Newsom might seriously contemplate a presidential bid after the 2026 midterms.

“Yes, I’d be lying otherwise. I can’t do that,” Newsom responded, acknowledging his interest openly.
