GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A man was arrested on Thursday in connection to a Brunswick hotel shooting that left another man injured, the Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) announced Friday.
Maliek Palmer was arrested Thursday night shortly after leaving a business on Gateway Center Boulevard when officers showed up, a press release from GCPD states. The police department did not disclose what business Palmer was at. He faces a reckless conduct charge related to the shooting.
On Sunday at approximately 4:24 a.m., GCPD says patrol officers arrived at the Royal Inn hotel, located at 5252 New Jesup Hwy., after receiving multiple 911 calls about gunshots. When they arrived, police say a man was found shot multiple times; his injuries were said to be non-life-threatening.
GCPD says the man was then taken to the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus, but was later transferred to another hospital for further medical treatment.
According to the release, the shooting happened in the parking lot of the hotel. When reviewing surveillance footage over the weekend, officers saw the shooting victim and another man exchange gunfire.
According to GCPD, Palmer had felony warrants for aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during a commission of certain crimes when he was arrested Thursday. Additionally, police say Palmer had a probation violation warrant on an “original charge of Statutory Rape.”
