On Monday, Greg Kittle broke his silence on social media regarding his severe Achilles injury.

The San Francisco 49ers standout suffered the injury during the second quarter of their 23-18 wild-card victory against the Eagles on Sunday night.

In an Instagram post filled with a series of photos, Kittle expressed, “Football can be tough sometimes, but my passion for it remains. I adore my teammates and this team. Although heartbroken, the outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming. I’ll bounce back. Thank you. Our journey isn’t over! When the team’s owner is the first to greet you in the locker room, you know you’re part of something special.”

Among the photos shared were a picture of Kittle with his wife, Claire, in the 49ers training room, and an image of him being carted off the field.

Claire echoed her husband’s sentiments by sharing his post on her Instagram story, adding the caption, “My real-life superhero.”

Kittle suffered the injury with 5:58 left in the second quarter after making a catch and being tackled near the sideline.

The 49er seemed to get his right ankle twisted as he was being taken out of bounds and Kittle quickly grabbed for his ankle.

Niners owner Jed York went down to visit Kittle in the locker room after he had suffered the injury and, according to The San Francisco Standard, the tight end was asked if York could get him anything.

A bottle of tequila was reportedly delivered to the locker room several minutes later.

The Athletic reported that a team staffer delivered a bottle of Patron from the owner’s suite and that Kittle finished the entire bottle.

Kittle had been limited this season due to injury and had played in 11 games during the regular season.

He had 57 receptions for 628 yards and seven touchdowns.
