Authorities report that a former US Army serviceman stands accused of fatally shooting a father of three after a dispute over a parking spot at a Target in Georgia. The incident involved Matthew Traywick, who was shot in the parking area of the Savannah store. Despite being swiftly transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center, Traywick succumbed to his injuries, according to WJCL.

The alleged shooter, 30-year-old Tyler Edward Linn, was apprehended at the location shortly after the incident, which took place just past 4 p.m. on Sunday. Linn, who served in the Army from August 2015 until October 2023 and was based at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, faces charges of murder and aggravated assault.

Currently, Linn is detained at the Chatham County Detention Center. Details regarding his initial court appearance remain undisclosed at this time.

The fatal shooting of Traywick, a father to three young children, took place “during an alleged argument over a parking dispute,” according to a social media post from Savannah’s Mayor Van Johnson.

“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the victim. No disagreement over a parking space, or anything else should ever end in the loss of life,” the Democratic elected official wrote.

A GoFundMe to raise support for Traywick’s widow, Micayla, and her three children, has so far raised more than $140,000 of its $160,000 target.

“In the midst of their grief, the family is now confronted with immediate expenses and the uncertainty of how to manage ongoing needs without Matt’s steady support,” the fundraiser read.

“The funds raised will help cover urgent costs and provide a safety net for Micayla and her children as they begin to rebuild their lives,” the appeal continued.

Vaden Automotive, the Savannah car dealership where Traywick worked, shared a social media statement after news of his death.

“Matthew was a valued member of the Vaden family for years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, and those closest to him during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement read.
