In the wake of a toxic tank leak, looters have begun preying on vacant residences in Orange County, where a mass evacuation has displaced up to 50,000 people from their homes.

Authorities have reported that seven individuals have been apprehended as they attempted to exploit the deserted streets of Garden Grove, which lie in the vicinity of the GKN Aerospace facility.

The evacuation took place Thursday afternoon due to an overheating tank containing the volatile substance methyl methacrylate, which posed a significant explosion risk.

On Monday, President Donald Trump issued a federal emergency declaration following urgent appeals from California Governor Gavin Newsom and other state leaders, who had spent several days alerting the public to the potential for a disastrous chemical explosion in Garden Grove.
