Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear informed the public about a shooting incident at Kentucky State University (KSU) in Frankfort on Tuesday. He used X to announce that the suspect involved has been apprehended.
Governor Beshear stated, “We are currently aware of a shooting reported at Kentucky State University in Frankfort. There are some injuries reported. Further details will be provided as they become available.”
He added, “Law enforcement is present at the scene, and a suspect is now in custody. Please join me in praying for all those impacted by this event.”

The Frankfort Police Department confirmed via a social media update that officers responded to reports of “an active aggressor” on the KSU campus around 3:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
Police said both the department and university will share more information as it becomes available.
The Frankfort Sheriff’s Office wrote via Facebook that they “secured the campus and have a suspect in custody.”

The campus remains in lockdown according to authorities.Â
It is currently unclear the severity of injuries of those affected.
