As the anticipation built up around the upcoming award nominations, there was much speculation about which artists would emerge as frontrunners.

WASHINGTON — Kendrick Lamar has taken the lead in this year’s Grammy race, securing an impressive nine nominations. Hot on his heels are Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, and Sabrina Carpenter, all of whom have also earned multiple nods.

The nominations were unveiled on Friday during a live video stream, which was accessible on both the Grammy website and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel.

A diverse group of celebrities were on hand to reveal the nominees, including Gayle King, Doechii, Karol G, Lizzo, Mumford & Sons, Nicole Scherzinger, Sabrina Carpenter, Sam Smith, Angélique Kidjo, Brandi Carlile, CeCe Winans, David Foster, Jon Batiste, Little Big Town, Masaki Koike, and last year’s Best New Artist winner, Chappell Roan.

For an album to qualify for consideration, it needed to have been released commercially in the U.S. between August 31 and August 30. Unfortunately for Taylor Swift fans, her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” was not eligible this year.

Heading into the award nominations, there were many unknowns.

with new changes, including a new stand-alone category for best album cover. Following Beyoncé’s historic wins for best album and best country album at the 2025 Grammy Awards for “Cowboy Carter,” the latter category has also been split into two, with the creation of a best traditional country album category.

The existing best country album category has been renamed best contemporary country album.

The list below will be updated as more categories are announced.
