LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Guests staying at the Trump International Hotel were forced to evacuate Wednesday morning after a Tesla Cybertruck exploded at the main entrance, killing one person and injuring seven others.

Many guests that affiliate KLAS spoke to said they left their belongings behind and complained that there wasn’t a clear evacuation plan from hotel staff.

Las Vegas Metro Police Department set up an evacuation zone for Trump tower guests near Las Vegas and Genting boulevards. There were several RTC buses parked along Genting.

At around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, KLAS saw a long line of people rolling luggage and carrying backpacks. The crowd dissipated by 2 p.m.

“We were actually just sleeping and we just heard two loud explosions and woke up. It basically shook the hotel,” Adam Bellman of West Virginia said.

Bellman was staying on the 24th floor of Trump International with his girlfriend, and they left their belongings back in the hotel room.

“We have no information about if we can get back to our hotel room. When we can get back to our room, and that’s about it. We’re kind of just sitting here waiting,” Bellman said.

Bellman wasn’t the only one confused about what was next. Other guests said they were rushed out and weren’t presented with the option to stay at Resorts World.

“My dad came in saying there was an article about an explosion at the hotel, and then probably ten minutes later we heard like an alarm saying to evacuate the building and then everyone started freaking out,” Simon Fernandez, who is visiting with his family from Houston, said.

Angel Anento was visiting from Colombia and hadn’t heard the explosion.

“I feel pretty calm. My mom was very scared. My family was very scared, but I feel all right. I mean they just told us to leave,” Anento said.

A couple visiting from Germany also left their belongings in their hotel room. The problem was that Wednesday was their wedding day.

“We couldn’t get back in to get our clothing for the wedding and we also don’t have our passports, and anything,” Ian Rasshofer said.

The soon-to-be bride and groom had wedding bells planned for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bliss Chapel in the Arts District. They revealed in a text message that the wedding did happen as planned.

Guests told KLAS that they were allowed back into the property around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
