JSO says a victim arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds Tuesday night.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has reported a shooting in the Grand Park area of Jacksonville Tuesday, where they say more than 30 shots were fired.
Officers responded to the intersection of Mecca Street and West 23rd Street at approximately 6 p.m. after an alert from ShotSpotter.
When they got to the scene, officers found shelling casings in the street, JSO said. Officers soon found that a victim had arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.
The victim is an adult male in his late 20’s and is expected to survive his injuries, police said.
According to JSO, an initial investigation revealed a “group of individuals” was “hanging out.”
ShotSpotter alerted to approximately 30 gunshots and officers collected approximately 20 shell casings.
JSO said the incident appears to be targeted but they are still investigating.
