Harvey Weinstein, the former film industry executive who was convicted of rape, has responded to references made to his children with ex-wife Georgina Chapman during Adrien Brody’s acceptance speech at the 2025 Oscars.
Brody, 51, took to the stage at Dolby Theatre Sunday night to accept the Best Actor award β his second overall β for his leading role in βThe Brutalist.β
After being handed the award by actor Cillian Murphy, Brody went on a 6-minute spiel during which he shouted-out Weinstein and Chapmanβs two children, India, 14, and son Dashiell, 11.
βI share this with my amazing partner, Georgina,β Brody said, βwho has not only reinvigorated my own self worth, but my sense of value and my values and her beautiful children,Β Dash and India.β
Brody then revealed the nickname India and Dashiell call him, ββItβs been a rollercoaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life, and Popsyβs coming home a winner.β
Following Brodyβs big win, Weinstein β who is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence at Rikers Island β gave his take on the actorβs speech.
βHarvey is happy for Georgina and grateful that his kids are being loved and cared for as they deserve to be,β Weinsteinβs repΒ told Us Weekly in a statement.
Brody and Chapmanβs romance was first confirmed in February 2020. They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.
TheΒ Marchesa founder previously wed Weinstein, 72, in 2007 and went on to welcome two children together.
She split from the disgraced film honcho in 2017 after he was accused of rape and sexual assault by multiple women. TheirΒ divorce was finalizedΒ in July 2021.
Sunday nightβs star-studded ceremony saw Brody break the world record for the longest acceptance speech in Oscars history β rivaling his 3Β½-hour movie.
During his six-minute speech, Brody β who beat TimothΓ©e Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Sebastian Stan and Ralph Fiennes in the best actor category β said that winning his second Oscar is βbeyond the pinnacle of a careerβ and hopes it proves heβs βworthy of such meaningful, important and relevant roles.β
βNo matter where you are in your career and what youβve accomplished, it can all go away,β he said. βAnd I think what makes this night most special is the awareness of that and the gratitude that I have to still do the work that I love.β
After the actorβs name was announced as the winner, he immediately embraced Chapman, 48. After hugging some of his co-stars and director Brady Corbet, he headed to the stage to give his speech.
In the heat of the moment, however, Brody spat gum out of his mouth and threw it at Chapman before he got onstage to accept his gong.
