The latest Mega Millions jackpot has climbed to become the ninth-largest in the game’s history, reaching a staggering $680 million. This grand prize was the focus of Friday night’s drawing.

In Washington, anticipation was high as participants awaited the results of the Mega Millions draw, although it was unclear if anyone had claimed the massive jackpot.

The prize reached this impressive amount after no ticket matched all six numbers in Tuesday’s drawing, leading the jackpot to continue its upward trajectory.

Should no one win on Friday, the jackpot streak will extend to 35 consecutive draws without a winner, since the last substantial prize of $348 million was claimed in Virginia on June 27. This current jackpot has now secured its place among the largest since Mega Millions began in 2002.

If there are no grand prize winners on Friday, it would become the 35th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner since the last big win of $348 million in Virginia on June 27. The growing prize now ranks as the ninth largest in Mega Millions history since the game launched in 2002.

The jackpot has grown significantly since Mega Millions increased its ticket price from $2 to $5 in April 2025. While the higher price point has driven larger jackpots, it also came with improved odds for players. The chance of winning the grand prize is now one in 290,472,336, compared to the previous one in 302,575,350, thanks to a reduction in the Mega Ball pool from 25 to 24 numbers.
