A popular television meteorologist has gone viral for posting a video about being made redundant.

Kelly Bates, the weather presenter at ABC6 in Providence, Rhode Island, shared in a video posted on Thursday that she, along with several of her colleagues, has been laid off following the acquisition of the company.

In the video posted on Facebook, Kelly, who hails from Massachusetts, mentioned she is actively seeking new employment. She characterized herself as both ‘dedicated and loyal.’

‘So, it happened again,’ she said. ‘It happened again.’

Holding back tears, Kelly elaborated: ‘Our station was recently purchased by the company I formerly worked for. The new parent company has deemed my role redundant, which led to my dismissal.’

‘So, no tears this time. I know what to expect with this company.’

She continued: ‘But if anyone’s looking for an effective communicator, person who can make great homemade bracelets, and someone who’s dedicated and loyal, and hardworking, please feel free to reach out to me, because I could use a job.’

Captioning the post, she wrote: ‘Good grief! It happened again!! A number of us ABC6 folks are now looking for work.

‘If a resume crosses your desk from someone at ABC6, do yourself a favor and hire them. They are the finest humans I have worked with.

‘They are resourceful beyond measure and dedicated to excellence. They are magic makers who can make so much happen with so little.

‘It was an honor to work with them. It was a gift and a blessing to be part of the team.’

Kelly joined ABC6 in June 2022 after previously working for NBC10, where she had worked for 17 years.

She left NBC10 after a supposed contract dispute.

Before then, Kelly had worked at ABC6, hired there as a weekend night meteorologist in 2000.

It was announced on Friday morning that Sinclair Inc., the parent company for Rhode Island’s NBC10 (WJAR,) is taking over the infrastructure and operations for rival market stations, ABC6.

Kelly lost her job due to the new agreement.

Her announcement ignited a wave of support from outraged fans.

Taking to the comments, one said: ‘Maybe a boycott of both stations [is] in order.’

‘This is a disgrace,’ said another. ‘I’m so so sorry Kelly.’

‘This is outrageous,’ added a third. ‘Out of all the meteorologist, you are the only one I trust.

‘Experience and knowledge and trust apparently doesn’t matter. I need to win the lottery so that I can hire you as my personal meteorologist! I’m so sorry this has happened again.’

A fourth added: ‘So sorry, Kelly. That company is despicable! I know you will land on your feet again. You deserve better!’
