A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer has given a new lease on life to a dog left alone at an airport, adopting the furry friend just weeks after the incident.
In LAS VEGAS, a 2-year-old golden doodle/mini poodle mix found itself a new family after its previous owner was detained for allegedly leaving the dog behind at Harry Reid International Airport. The animal was reportedly abandoned following the owner’s arrest.
Authorities stated that on February 2, the owner was unable to board a JetBlue flight because the service animal documentation for the dog was incomplete. This situation unfolded at the ticket counter of the Las Vegas airport, resulting in the pet being left behind.
The dog, affectionately renamed “Jet Blue” after its ordeal, was taken in by Skeeter Black, an officer with the LVMPD who had been on the scene during the rescue.
The police department shared that Black and his family had been searching for a golden doodle to adopt since September, making Jet Blue a perfect addition to their home.
“The outpouring of support from our community throughout this situation has been overwhelming, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped ensure this pup received the care and compassion he deserved,” the police department wrote in a social media post.
The women was arrested and booked on charges of animal abandonment and resisting arrest. It’s unclear if she is still in jail.
