Help CCSO Identify the Suspect Behind Recent Fishing Gear Theft

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the community for assistance in identifying a man suspected of stealing fishing gear valued at over $870 from Southeast Country Club Road.

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — In a bid to track down a suspect, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is appealing to the public for help. The man in question is alleged to have stolen fishing equipment from a local property.

The incident took place on March 22 at approximately 12:51 p.m. on Southeast Country Club Road. A trail camera on the property managed to capture an image of the suspect, providing a lead for investigators.

The victim reported that four fishing rod-and-reel combos were taken. These included three Lew’s rods, each with a price tag of $240, $240, and $210, respectively. Additionally, a Johnny Morris rod valued at $180 was also stolen.

Authorities have disclosed that the suspect deliberately crossed two fences to gain access to the property, subsequently absconding with the gear on a bicycle.
