A 36-year-old Bend, Oregon, man who police said “neutralized” the gunman responsible for killing three children and a teacher at Silver Rail Elementary School on Thursday has been identified as Kaylub Gianmarco, a law enforcement source confirmed to News Media.
At a news conference Friday, police identified the teacher killed in the shooting as 25-year-old Meghan Lambert. Authorities also said 5-year-old Rhoam Summer was among the youngest victims.
“Meghan was compassionate and had a huge heart. She always fought for the underdog and those with special needs. She was an incredible sister, daughter, niece and granddaughter. Her friends became her family,” Lambert’s family said in a statement read during the news conference.

“We want the bystander who intervened to know we understand he is going through a rough time, but we are grateful and believe he is a hero,” the family said in its statement. “You selflessly put yourself at risk for others. We want the other families to know they are in our thoughts and prayers. Megan loved those children, and we will show you love for her.”
The shooting also claimed the lives of three students, ages 5, 8 and 11.
